ExACT Immunoplasty℠ - What you need to know

What is ExACT Immunoplasty℠?

The ExACT Immunoplasty℠ procedure introduces tiny amounts of allergens to the patient’s immune system via a lymph node. Targeting a specific lymph node allows the immune system to immediately recognize the allergen as non-threatening, with a much more rapid reduction in allergy symptoms.

How Does ExACT Immunoplasty℠ Work?

Step 1: After your initial allergy test, you and your provider will determine whether ExACT Immunoplasty℠ is the right solution for you. The fist treatment can be scheduled after you complete your allergy test.

Step 2 - The First Treatment: The ExACT Immunoplasty℠ procedure places a small amount of your treatment solution into the inguinal lymph node, using ultrasonic guidance. This process takes about 5 -10 minutes.

Step 3 - The Second Treatment: The second treatment is performed four weeks after the first, following the same protocol.

Step 4 - Third and Final Treatment: The third treatment is performed four weeks after the second treatment, or eight weeks after the first treatment.

If you need to reschedule your  Procedure appointment, we require at least 48 hours in advance and Must reschedule within the 4-5 week window of your previous treatment.

What Should I Know Before My Appointment?

  • The procedure itself takes about 5 -10 minutes in an exam room, however there is a 60 minute observation period after the treatment is given. In order to proceed with the treatment you must be willing to wait the entire 60 minutes.
  • You are required to carry an epinephrine auto injector on the days of your treatment. We will be happy to give you a prescription for one, if needed.
  • If you are on a Beta Blocker, you will need to have your doctor discontinue your medication for at least one day (24 hours) before each treatment. After the treatment you can take your Beta Blocker as needed.
  • We can include up to three allergens in each treatment series. After completion of the series, you can do another series with more allergens, but we expect to achieve symptom relief even if we do not treat every allergen to which you are sensitive.
